Watt's Up! Benefit Soft-focus Highlighter

Watt's up! Today I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on Benefit's Soft-focus Highlighter. It's packaging and name is presented by the concept of a lightbulb, which I think is quite different and clever. I saw this product on instagram and being in love with highlighters at the moment I thought I'd see watt's it all about  . . . hehe.

Packaging
The highlighter comes in a cute little box that's designed to look like a lightbulb box. The actual product itself is in a stick on one end, which you twist. On the other end of the product is a soft sponge tip used to blend the product into the skin. It is quite a small product, so it's easy to carry around.

Application
The product is meant to be applied by swiping the product on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow and brow bones. Afterwards, you blend it into the skin using the little sponge tip. I find applying the product onto the skin from the stick onto the cheeks and other areas easier than swiping it along the bridge of the nose, as it tends to take some of my base off as I glide it on. When applying onto my nose I prefer to dab it on with my finger. As for using the little sponge tip to afterwards blend the product into the skin, I prefer to use my finger as I feel using the sponge tip tends to take the product off. Simply blending the edges gently with a finger helps to get a seamless sheen.

Colour
The colour of this highlighter is a soft champagne colour, which you can see by the swatch below. It has a luminous sheen that I think complements a range of skin tones.

Texture
The texture is a cream highlight, so it's smooth and very easy to apply and blend. It just glides onto the skin.

Coverage
One swipe of the highlighter provides a soft, beautiful sheen that for me lasts all day (approx 7-9 hours).

Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

Mother's Day

Yesterday I had a lovely day celebrating mother's day, despite the cold and miserable Melbourne weather! I spent the morning with my beautiful mum, grandmothers, aunty and cousin at a small outer Melbourne cafe called Ten One Ate, where we had a lovely breakfast/ brunch.

The atmosphere in the cafe was very cosy and welcoming and it was so sweet how upon arrival the mother's each received a lovely red rose.

As I have a sweet tooth for breakfast I ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes with a lemon curd, crushed pistachios and mascarpone. It was beautifully garnished with flower petals and the presentation overall was gorgeous, it looked too good to eat.

How delicious does this plate of nutella french toast look?! So pretty . . . And the porridge tasted as yummy as it looks.

Overall it was a lovely morning spent with the girls. Of course, I think mother's day should be everyday. They do so much for us that one day of the year where we show our appreciation isn't enough. But it was nice getting together for the one day and making the most important women in our lives feel special.

Outfit fit for the occasion <3

How was your Mother's Day? Let me know how you made your mum feel special.

The World of Makeup

Hello! I hope you have had an amazing weekend celebrating Mother's Day! I certainly did and will be sharing with you some pics of my weekend soon, but for now I'd like to share with you something exciting and that is the establishment of my sister Mandy and I's makeup page, MK Makeup. Like almost every girl both my sisters and I are crazy about makeup, so my younger sister and I decided to immerse ourselves in our passion by engaging in social media and sharing our love for it with others as well as enrolling at Melboune's Academy of Makeup to study a Diploma of Makeup services. This year I aimed to do what I love, after studying Psychology at university I struggled with what to do next. I could go down the path of studying the subject further or teaching it, but at the back of my mind there was always the idea of makeup and it has been there for a very long time. I simply decided to take the plunge and follow my heart. Anyway, we thought we'd give this a go and hope for the best *fingers crossed.* Life's too short, right? If you never try, you'll never know what will happen and I don't wish to always think "what if?"

For our first post we each gave each other a look to do and I gave my sister Kendall Jenner's look and she gave me Khloe Kardashian's, which you can find here and here

This is a photo of my Khloe Kardashian inspired makeup look. When I saw the photo I became a bit worried at the blue eyeshadow because I don't wear it . . . at all. But I must say I do like it, especially when paired with bronzer and a nude, glossy lip. The products I used are:

Primer - Hourglass Mineral Veil
Foundation - Mac MatchMaster no. 1.5
Bronzer - Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light
Blush - Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love
Highlighter - Benefit Watts Up and Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmer Powder in Luminous
Eyeshadow - Maxfactor Sapphire Rage; Revlon colorstay ShadowLinks in Peacock; Bourjois Little round pot eyeshadow no. 17
Stila Eyes are the Window shadow Body palette in Sapphire
Lipgloss - Napoleon
Lipstick - Hourglass Femme nude lip stylo in No. 6
Lashes - Ardell 102 Glamour Lashes in Black
Setting powder - Rimmel Stay Matte translucent powder
Concealers - Rimmel Wake me Up in Ivory; 2-in-1 Match Perfection concealer and highlighter in Ivory
Brows - Too Faced Chocolate Bar in Semi-sweet

We both had so much fun with the challenge, although it took us forever to work with the camera and get the right lighting ect and there was makeup EVERYWHERE.
